MARIA RIDGE DESIGN STUDIO

Final design studio run by Glenn Murcutt with the brief inspired by his own property, the Marie Short house in Kempsey, NSW. The program required a sustaining solution for an onsite design course intending to facilitate up thirty students, with the inclusion of sleeping arrangements, study spaces, food, water, energy and waste management. The brief required a sensible response to the existing landscape, flora, fauna and buildings on the site.

 

This response intends to engage the principles of education and design with elements of the native Australian landscape, sustainable understanding and the appreciation of structural technique.
